[Discussion] Today's chapter suggests a huge variation in what we understand as the 'top tier.'

Most peoples tier lists go like this

Top Tier:
Yonkou, Admirals, Mihawk, Garp, Roger, Fleet Admiral, Kong, Yonkou first mate, Rayleigh etc.

But I'm thinking that there is more to it than that and that lets say if Ao Kiji was to fight Kaido, the gap in strength would be substantial.

For one, I believe the only reason Ao Kiji was able to compete with Akainu was because of their opposing devil fruits so it became a contest of who can produce more of their respective element.
- This is a shaky example but imagine if Akainu encased Doffy in magma, just like Ao Kiji encased him in ice. Doffy wouldn't be around anymore. For someone who doesn't have an opposing devil fruit to Akainu, they need ridiculous haki just to be able to strike him without burning themselves. Therefore Akainu>Ao Kiji by a fair bit.

Now take Kaido who is supposed to be stronger than anyone we've ever seen and in my mind, it just implies that the top tier we understand is enormously varied. Jozu was able to make Ao Kiji bleed and Marco was able to kick Kizaru, but when you pit those characters against Akainu or imagine them taking on Whitebeard, they fall awfully short.

I would split the top tier into 5 levels, and arrange it like so.

Highest Top Tier
Kaido, Prime Whitebeard, Prime Garp, Prime Roger

High Top Tier
Old Whitebeard, Akainu, Shanks, Mihawk, Dragon (Hype)

Middle Top Tier
Big Mom, Blackbeard, Kizaru, Ao Kiji, Sengoku and Old Garp? (Can't see Sengoku and Garp beating Akainu)

Lower Top Tier
Issho, Rayleigh, Green Bull?, Marco, Benn Beckman

Lowest Top Tier
Jozu, Doflamingo, Sabo, Shiryu, G4 Luffy

For all intents and purposes, I reckon Kaido would low diff anyone in the lower top tier.

Even if that's the case, I still reckon Oda will want Luffy to fight a brawler who is at the top level and not just a fruit user.

Kaido isnt and will never be stronger than WB, what's less u put him in the same category as prime legends?

Kaido is in the same category other Yonkos/FA/Admirals fall until more is shown, one box of dialogue isnt going to put him up there, it makes no sense.

Can someone explain to me how shanks and mihawk are stronger than prime rayleigh?

See Kaido for the first time and says hes on the same level as Prime Gol Roger and Prime Garp..... SMH


The highest tier is only reserved for three characters in the manga:

Prime Whitebeard, Prime Gol D Roger, and Prime Garp.

No one else has been remotely hyped or shown to have similar feats as them. And IMO the only 2 character that will probally make that list by the EOS is Dragon and Luffy.
