I think its pretty obvious to everyone who thinks clearly that Kishi planned Tobi = Obito from the beginning.
When the revelation came 1st, most non tobito fans (like me) were annoyed. The when we saw that he changed when Rin died, even some Tobito fans was disappointed with the story behind his change.
But now, we have some established facts on his transformation.
-Tobirama explained the mystery of the Uchiha's love and how it turns to strong hatred when a loved one dies.
-From the last chapter, we also understand that he had no grudge on Kakashi that is why he didn't kill him after killing the mist ninjas when Kakashi was out.
-We now also know why he went to the mist village and controlled it.
-We also see his objective from his own point of view is genuine. He wants to create a world where no one else will suffer like Rin did. Even Naruto who isnt an uchiha was so overcome by grief in a short time that Neji died and reacted negatively. Obito stayed a long time dwelling on the pain till it completely changed his character.
Our major problem is that we aint patient enough to know the end before we jump into conclusions and condemn the story.
