Why was Obito, as 1MS Akatsuki Tobi, shown to have swarthy skin, however, he was later revealed to have pale skin color? His earlier versions with flame masks also had pale skin, so what was wrong with that one specific orange-masked version of his?

The anime is inconsistent. They/Kishi took quite a few liberties to hide Tobi's identity, too. Giving Obito scars that looked consistent with Madara's usual marks around the eyes, just so that Tobi could plausibly be an aged Madara... never showing Obito's MS, or allowing anyone else to see it, even though everyone notices his Sharingan, and using Kamui doesn't cause his eye to become temporarily distorted or otherwise unrecognizable, even while warping.
