I was thinking the same, but maybe naruto was too fast for tobi? maybe he couldnt use rinnengan and sharingan at the same time who knows he was already using kamui to travel into the other dimension

Naruto's speed stopped him from being able to use one when he got hit and before he just didn't need them, what is the point of wasting chakra on stuff you don't need.

It probably uses too much chakra. He did already have 6 bijuu fight with him, restrained them, used their techniques, summoned the gedo mazo, performed the uchiha flame encampment, used about 7 sharingan techs, and is still fighting to stall for time for the jyuubi to be summoned so he can use yet another technique to seal it inside of himself.

I agree his rinnegan is doing absolutely nothing at this point. I can't understand why he doesn't use any of it's abillities, unless it's to focused on bringing out the 10 tails power or something. I can't see any other reason than that.

Some people are saying that he's currently using the Rinnegan to control the Juubi, and can only use his MS for the time being

I think rinnigan takes to much out of him. He was not capable of using these abilities yet as it would be new to him. Nagato would have doen that because he is use to using the rinnigan and has perfect reaction time with it but tobi just got it a little while ago.

the reason he is not using the Rinnegan at this moment is because the Author does not feel that it is important for the advancement of the story. The Sharigan is employed so often because it is not only Tobi most identifying ability but its also the secret behind the mask. Once his mask is removed I am sure you will see more use of the Rinnegan. I am not sure where people are getting this Chakra bullshit from.

Using them for later sounds about right. I think we've convinced ourselves that getting his mask off = dead haha.

I was thinking something along those lines. It didn't seem to be necessary with Madara however so I wondered if it had to do something with both of his eyes being transplanted.
