Tobirama's intelligence

How intelligence do you think this man is?

He invented FTG, Edo Tensei, and the Kage Bunshin. He is so analytical he found Rikudobito's only weakness, and he has knowledge on many different aspects in the Narutoverse varying from Mount Myōboku all the way back to the SO6P ninjutsu erasing techniques. I am just wondering, how smart is he in your opinion?

I'd be willing to say a top 5 is possible


1. Shikaku

2. Shikamaru (who'll likely top his father)

After that... it comes down to people with either vast quantities of knowledge (due to age like Kakuzu, Madara, Hiruzen, or Oonoiki), or people who were naturally analytical or smart (Tobirama, Minato, Itachi).


Considering that on top of battle smarts, Tobirama is also very creative smart, studied the Uchiha, and thought of the founding principles of the Narutoverse (Village, rules, exams, Anbu, Chunin Exams)....I could give him at best 3. Which is still pretty good.

No we're told Hashirama >> Tobirama and EMS Madara > MS Izuna but MS Madara = MS Izuna.

Intelligence is so hard to judge, considering there are different aspects to it. Analytical, knowledge, inventing, creativity and what not. I would give Tobirama #3.

He does great in all aspects to be honest.

I would say Top 3.

You pretty much stated why, he created a Jutsu that transcended life and death and another one that transcended space and time, he also created Kage Bunshin. He was able to figure out how Naruto and Minato save the alliance, Naruto's plan and Obito's weakness in moments and act accordingly. He also apparently knows about Myōbokuzan, Sennin Mōdo and some of Rikudō's Jutsu.

Not sure if he's better than the likes of Itachi and Minato though but he's up there with them imo.

I am not hating on Minato, but why do people put him up there with Itachi? Minato has one feat. Finding out Obito's weakness. That is it, besides tracking hair. He did not invent any jutsu, as he took the TBB and made it smaller, which is a cool feat, but not FTG or Edo Tensei invention worthy.

which manga proclaimed Tobirama to be on par with Hashirama?

Tobirama was so scared when Madara ordered Hashi to kill Tobirama. you call that "on par"?

Top 5....Unless he's able to do some chakra thingy with Edo tensei and keep Minato himself and his brother in the real world since he's the creator of the jutsu!

One thing is sure, Tobirama > Shikamaru when it comes to being analytical.

shikamaru didn't invent any jutsu. Kakashi is on par with Shikamaru in smartness.
Shikaku Nara was able to analyze Kurama chakra and found out it could be used to supply the alliance with chakra.
Shikamaru unlike his father, went blank and almost got everyone killed if not for Naruto + Minato

creative wise I'd say he's top- ftg, edo tensei and shadow clone is an amazing repertoire to have created. and from the other geniuses only minato and kakashi created one jutsu from scratch (excluding oro because who knows what that guy has done).

analytical wise i'd put him up there too- possibly kakashi and shikamaru are smarter but again he has more analytical feats than itachi and minato battle wise.

Tobirama is very smart and is an excellent shinobi.. However when it comes to life .. he had no plots for safe keeping.
Madara is also very smart. His plan consisted of decades of playing with people's lives. He still isn't finished yet. ^_^

There's different ways to judge smarts. Do you mean strategical, by knowledge, or by inventing? When it comes to strategy the Nara clan is slightly ahead but other than that he's the smartest and most wise of them all.
