A thing I don't understand about his death is why couldn't he have just teleported he and his subordinates back to the leaf if he's so advanced with Flying Raijin?

because they were on a mission and fighting a war. you dont run all the way back home. and besides, teleporting them 1 by 1 would be a time consuming task. not to mention tobirama uses his FTG differently. i could see minato using it like that but not tobirama

I believe kishi decision to make tobirama the inventor of ftg was a late decision and not the original plan. Because let's be honest tobirama was a genius! There is no reason in the world why he wouldn't have been able to teleport his crew out of danger! I don't care if it was 1 by 1 lol. Unless he has a distance restriction or a number of times he could use it.
