I don't know why you get so upset? I also have to disagree. The thing about Itachi being constantly in the spotlight lately is that Sasuke tries to come to a decision and reflects on everything Itachi did in his lifetime so it's only natural that they tell him every detail of what Itachi did, had to endure and so on.
I don't think that Itachi got "destroyed" in the least. He got even more depth to him than he ever had. Because we can understand his actions better and better from every information we get from Kishi.
What I think is your issue with Itachi, since you once liked him, is that the mystery around him got unveiled and you don't like the outcome. But hey that's okay but Kishi isn't wanking about him. Itach is just a key character. The effects of his actions reach to the very day Sasuke speaks to the Kages.

Here's where I disagree. This entire discussion between the Hokage and Sasuke is because Sasuke wants to understand his brother's feelings and why he chose the path that he did, and particularly why he chose the village over the clan. Ultimately, it is about Itachi, and it would be difficult to write about that without mentioning Itachi. And Hashi was just being humble.

Hashi obviously meant that Itatchi was better in terms of his sacrifice for the village not in terms of power. He's never even SEEN Itatchi!
