We know Edos can regenerate. But we also know that they become incapacitated when damaged just like they do in real life. That is why Hanzo went down when he did seppuku. Or why Edo are so easy to seal once they are "rekilled". Its because if the damage on the Edo is like the damage on the same edos living body and would have killed the person if they were alive, then the Edo would momentarily stop, allowing time to seal.
But Tobirama broke this rule.
Here Tobirama is talking even though half of his brain is destroyed and hasn't regenerated. Even an Edo needs a fully regenerated Edo brain to resume thinking.
Here Tobirama was able to talk and use a Jutsu despite having a rod in his brain.
The only two instances of an Edo doing stuff like this is Tobirama. It's not a coincindece.
Tobirama's real body must have some special ability that allows it to keep going despite being destroyed.
btw, look at how Third Raikage was falling apart from a stab. He was falling apart.
