Am I missing something? Wasn't that the hiraishin no jutsu the minato just used. The shunshin is just a burst of speed right? The hiraishin is teleportation. Then why does tobirama refer to it as the shunshin after all minato did teleport to the hiraishin seal that he used on obito.

i also noticed that he keeps saying shunshin like when minato got to the battlefield before the other hokage. i think its just a mistranslation

Perhaps he used them in tandem with each other, similar to the Raikage's lightning armour technique.

just a guess but read again
tobirama didn't have any idea if obito was marked already
may be that's why he thought shunshin

So they're interchangeable. I was about to come to the conclusion that the hiraishin was a variant of the shunshin (body flicker) XD.

I have seen the manga refer teleportation as shunshin and shunshin as teleportation even though this is wrong. They are both similar as shunshin deals with a sudden fast speed movement whereas teleportation deals with travelling from one spot to another without covering any distance or time.

In this case, Minato used hirashin by using the marking on Obito that he placed in their battle 16 years ago.
