every one keeps saying Tobi literally gave Nagato the renningen, how would he have even know who to choose to give them to? It seems like a big gamble, what if Nagato died and the eyes were lost? Why the F would you give something that is priceless to a Toddler? That would prove that tobi is just a dumb ass. - I think Nagato was born with them and tobi found out and was about to take them after defeating a young Nagato, then decided to let him keep them for safe keeping with the stipulation that he helped him. when we first see pain and tobi in together there is a conversation about how tobi barely won but could still own nagato so he better shut up and listen... this makes more since. also would explain why tobi if he is izuno has not resurrected madara sooner if you buy into that scenario.

What if: tobi is Sasuke's dad and his plans for the reningen was to revive his entire clan? or better yet his wife? he said he helped kill the Uchiha but what if it was indirect, Tobi was plotting a take over on the leaf and danzo found out and kills them all, all because sasukes dad was a greedy B. now he feels bad and want's to f over the leaf and bring back his clan. not just madara.

Tobi let Nagato live because he wanted to figure out how the eyes work etc, and if he could manipulate nagato into doing what he wanted then there was no need to use his own chakra to revive anyone. - as far as we know reviving the dead requires the user of the rin to give his life... we have only seen it used once - we don't know. we do know that if Tobi really wanted the eyes and is a bad mo fo like he says he is then he could have just taken them - which means he let nagato keep them for a reason.

now in support of my theory
we also know that madara did live for a brief period after his bout with the 1st - and that he had to have left some kind of record of his findings about ms and rin and firsts abilities and the importance of them behind on a scroll(s) which Oro deciphered and sasukes father had access to.

we know because Oro/kabuto and madara talk about the scroll and Kabuto manipulated madara's body to improve it with the first.

If you follow the manga properly, it can't be any other Uchiha we know of than Izuna or a new character but that's not very likely ... kinda late to introduce a new guy when the manga is heading it's end

Notice how Tobi clenches his arm after he claims Izuna willingly gave up his eyes before quickly changing the subject. I interpret that as an act of anger.

For example, it's common action that when you're angry, you clench your fists or clench harder into something you're holding.

Now if Tobi is Izuna, it would make sense. He could still be hostile about Madara forcibly taking Izuna's eyes for his own (which we know is the truth). And about Izuna learning Space-Time techniques — if he was Madara's brother, second to the Uchiha leader, then of course he'd have a whole range of different techniques.

The only mystery is that Izuna was shown dead. However, we can rule this out because, well, Tobi's the one telling the story, and more than half of it is a lie. Itachi mentioned Izuna but never confirmed he died when he was explaining the history of the Mangekyou Sharingan.

Moreover, Tobi claims "I [Madara] faded away from history", but it's more like Izuna did. People would still remember Madara just by looking at the symbol of the Uchiha, or gazing upon the Valley of the End. In fact, Kakashi makes a remark at the end of Part I about Madara and Hashirama.

Izuna, on the other hand, completely disappeared. He became an absolute nobody.

Pretty much, few know about Izuna Uchiha, Madara's little brother ... Izuna was overshadowed by Madara's name thus if he came to light as Izuna, few would take him seriously.
Also if Nagato's Rinnegan was Madara's, Izuna's/Tobi's eyes are Nagato's ; )
Thus when he first introduced himself as Madara he said: "The true power of the Sharingan… this Madara Uchiha's power!"

Thus Madara took Izuna's eyes to get EMS, then evolved it into Rinnegan ... Rinnegan = Izuna's eyes.

Also Madara took Izuna's eyes so he could crush Senju in war, but they later made a truce pact.
So basically Izuna sacrificed his eyes for ... nothing ?
Tobi said the same thing to Sasuke.

A new theory for tobi's identity......

Yeah there are probably hundreds of thread about tobi's identity....I never made any thread related to tobi tho......So be nice and read it then later on give me your advice....And yeah this is the theory of my own....
Ok now i think tobi is Madara.......let me explain now.....First tobi does not have a working body, a real body i mean.....We have seen it during the fight between tobi and youndaime and also during fight with danzo's subordinates....So the point of mine is that i think tobi is just the sharingan of madara.....May be it is his unique power of sharingan.....And may be before his death he activates some jutsu in his sharingan which lived on as Tobi......As we have seen that both tobi's and madara's plan is "the moon eye plan"So it shows how they are connected.......Also the emotions he showed while lecturing sasuke about madara's life always haunts me......

has shisui been officially ruled out as a tobi candadite?

I was reading up on shisui's bio,when I noticed that his hair, and mastery of the body teleport technique, and the fact that kabuto couldn't find shisui's corpse to use it for edo, made me really believe that he could be the man behind tobi's mask. I Really need some educated viewers to school me up on wether im way off or not. Thanks
