Please read before creating another theory about Tobi and Obito.
In the last week, I've came across loads of Tobi is Obito theories. I thought all this hype was over, but apperently that's not the case. :|
I'm creating this thread and fervently hoping that it might be able to make some people let go of that idea.
I'm going to list all the facts that negate the possibility of Tobi being Obito and debunk the most common claims.
Here goes nothing...
Claim 1 - Tobi is Obito because his warping is the same as Kamui.
First of all; no. It's not the same as Kamui.
Kamui doesn't require physical contact to send things into another dimension.
It's very similar to Kamui, with it's whirlpool pattern and the way it works, but it's not the same. More like a derivation of it.
Plus, we still don't know if Tobi's warping ability has anything to do with his doujutsu or not. But seeing that it tends to originate from his right eye and he decided to keep his right Sharingan even after acquiring the Rinnegan, it's a debatable point.
Even if Tobi has MS and his warping is due to that, there's an easy way to debunk Tobi is Obito.
Each MS has a different ability.
Itachi' right MS had Amaterasu and his left one had Tsukuyomi.
Sasuke's right MS has Kagutsuchi and a lower powered Tsukuyomi while his left one has Amaterasu.
We know that Shisui's left eye had Kotoamatsukami, but it's not clear if his right eye had anything. Danzo just used a hax genjutsu via Shisui's eye to mindf*ck the Kage's and Mifune, not anything as strong as Kotoamatsukami.
From Itachi and Sasuke's techniques, we can probably say that MS techniques are genetic.
The closer the relativity, the more similar the technique.
Anyways, I'm drifting off topic here. The thing is, a pair of MS doesn't have same or similar techniques in each eye.
Claim 2 - Tobi can be Obito, the timelines fit.
No.
The timelines don't f*cking fit.
The first we saw of Tobi was 16 years ago. Obito is around the same age as Kakashi. Kakashi was 14-15 years old back then. That's the age Obito would have been if he was alive.
I'm entirely skipping the how could a bloody 15 year old be able to do all of that argument, because it has been stated many times and it seems as if it doesn't get across.
If you haven't noticed, Kishi tends to make 15-16 year olds quite a lot shorter than grown ups.
We've seen Kakashi and Gai 16 years ago, they had the same build Naruto has at the moment. Obito would have been the same.
Minato's height was 179.2 cm back then.
The approximate height of teenagers is 165-166 cm in Narutoverse.
Tobi and Minato had similar heights.
Tobi could not have been Obito.
Case closed. :|
Claim 3 - Obito could hold a grudge against Konoha after being crushed because he was still alive and no one came to save him.
Now this is just stretching the boundaries of appliable logic.
Obito was a Naruto-like character. He sacrificed himself for the sake of his comrades and gave Kakashi his eye in the last moment, even though they didn't get along that well.
Do you really think that such a character would hold a grudge against an entire village just because he didn't die when even himself stated that he was already a gonner?
Plus, if he was to hold a grudge, he would have slain Kakashi a long time ago. He had a lot of opportunities when he visited Naruto during the Kage summit arc or when team 7 reunited.
Anyways, disregarding all of the above, Tobi could very well possess Obito's DNA, seeing that he has a sh*tload of Sharingan's at his disposal. He could even have his eye stacked up in his shelves if it wasn't destroyed for all I care.
But Tobi is definitely not Obito in person.
Over and out. :|
