There's no evidence in the manga of Tobi meeting Madara, or of Tobi existing before the attack of Konoha. Only Tobi makes these claims and we all know he lied about who he was.
The present Tobi is not the same "Uchiha Madara" who apparently helped Yahiko start the Akatsuki.
But hey whatever, let's just wait for Tobi to be finally revealed as Obito or something and then maybe you'll know.

Confirmed by Kishi: Madara knew Tobi. We suspected it way earlier than that, but it's been set in stone. It's not 100% certain, but it's very likely Tobi was the one who gave Madara's eyes to Nagato. It's a fact Tobi is old and that he knew Madara. Thus, it can't be Obito.
