How many smokers and chewers are out there? Almost the whole population smokes or chews and I have met a lot of smokers and chewers and none of them have any of those 2 pictures.
Also, you do what you do to enjoy your time, but I enjoy smoking. I mean you can continue to to throw aside my opinions and be a douche, or you could realize other people enjoy other things.
Some people enjoy skydiving, but they are also putting their life on the line.
19.
Sorry 2 hear.

Smoke it:

I didn't know that's called enjoying time.
Not to forget the additional problems caused due to it like constipation leading to fistula or gangrene foot if someone has an additional condition like diabetes etc.. Some really enjoyable effects indeed..:|
PS: Kissing a smoker ...eewwww
Smokers annoy me because they pollute the air I breath in as well and make me inhale that unwanted poison.
Haha...so were whippin out the pictures now eh? Honestly, there are so many things out there that are "bad" for you, but tobacco seems to be the one everyone wants to target. Sooo much money is spent on ridiculous ads and commercials of comparing cigarettes to like cat urine? And dog fecal matter? The lengths people will go to attack tobacco companies is absurd.
Especially when so many kids are overweight from poor diet and lack of exercise (I think its something like 1 out of 4 kids is obese). Yet you don't see the money spent on slamming McDonalds or Call of Duty. Diabetes is way more of a threat than lung cancer will ever be. Still, we see waves and waves and waves of McDonalds, BK, Taco Bell commercials on TV. How many cigarette ads do you see on TV? Ill answer for you...its zero. For some reason, we've reached a double standard with what we feel is an acceptable "unhealthy" choice. It's just hypocritical is all.
Life's tough. School, work, relationships, expenses, keeping in shape, trying to eat healthy, family, and so much more. Its stressful. And what helps me relax when I'm typing up a paper, or grading them is getting a smooth buzz from a little dip. Or taking a drag on my home.
To each his/her own I say!
With this. Absolutely you have point. I hate to see people in a public park, school, restaurant, etc. smoking when others might not be comfortable with it. You're 100% right about this. But again, you have soo many other things that people do in public arenas that are inappropriate. Off the top of my head, texting and driving, drinking and driving, hell even eating and driving, talking on a cell phone in public (like too loud), using a phone in a theatre, etc. I think its safe to say do "anything" in public that might be bothersome to those around you is inappropriate, smoking included, but it shouldn't be put on blast any more than the other things I mentioned.

You do not want me to post images of diabetics who smoke. So do not provoke me with what's worse..
Tobacco companies launched too many products in the market and got too many innocent/ignorant victims on their hands.
I have no idea where do you live but here, I have seen toothpastes with tobacco in it and people get addicted to it. A little girl in my 5 th grade class was addicted to paan masala . I haven't seen her since but even then her teeth were getting stained and her parents didn't realize that they shouldn't let her buy this kind of thing.
It's all well and nice to live in protected environment where you do not realize the full effects. I know that the problems of tobacco are more in control in developed world where the awareness and health facilities are better. But it's uses are on increase in Asian countries and here there are hardly any laws or social awareness about it. The results and patients with these problems are on the rise horribly.
I live in the U.S, so you're right, I certainly have a different perspective on the issue. So I will try not to speak on matters of which I have no experience. But if I can make a point...
"Tobacco companies launched too many products in the market and got too many innocent/ignorant victims on their hands."
Honestly, you could take the word "tobacco" out of that sentence and it would be just as valid. "Companies launch too many products in the market and get too many innocent/ ignorant victims on their hands. Its no secret that many large companies have a crooked spine. One example that comes to mind is the pharmaceutical company Bayer who released ibuprofen that was infected with HIV into a smaller markets when it was rejected by the U.S, Europe and Asia...they didn't want to "take a loss."
I understand your frustration with Tobacco companies, if what you say is true (and I have no reason not to believe you) than those actions are irreprehensible. However, don't go pointing the finger at "Tobacco Companies" as if they are all in cahoots together trying to destroy peoples lives (which I feel like is what people are trying to say), when it was most likely, one company. Think about Nike, and that accusations of having children work in sweatshops, or BP, and the irreversible damage they caused to the planet. Yet, I don't hear people slamming all oil companies on their drilling techniques. Or people blaming all shoe companies for Nike's mistakes.
My point is, Tobacco companies, like every other type of business, have shady areas and practices. That's the nature of the big business world, its a shame, but its not all of them. What is unfair though, is not being able to distinguish the good from the bad...and have the "good" suffer from the "bads" actions.

If what you say is true, then absolutely, that company should be held accountable (although they most likely wont, which I admit is a terrible thing). However, I know tobacco companies (company?) are not the only ones taking advantage of places that don't have strict regulations...I have already pointed out Nike.
There are several companies involved in these businesses. and it reflects on the industry as a whole. It's not like only paan masala harms people. Tobacco harms in any form. It's only that many people taking paan massla/toothpaste thought that they were not risking anything. But that was true for many early smokers too.
We're not commenting on shady business practices. Ira's talking about the health effects of tobacco usage.
See that exactly is the point I'm making, "...it reflects the industry as a whole." That's just unfair, and baseless to be honest. It doesn't. It reflects those companies, and that should be all it affects. Listen, it seems you may have been personally affected by "Big Tobacco" and if that's the case, for its worth I am truly sorry. But, you have a horse in this race (or debate) so it's hard to look at it from a biased POV. Like I said earlier. Nike's mistakes didn't reflect the entire shoe industry (and it shouldn't). And BP's mistakes did not reflect the entire oil industry (and it shouldn't). What upsets me, is that nothing has been done to these companies, and others like them, including the corrupt Tobacco companies. A multi-million dollar fine, slap on the wrist and everything is status quo, and it's unfair, I know this as well as anyone. But again, its companies...not Tobacco companies.
To your point about early smokers not knowing the "risks". Its been known that Tobacco carries risk for over a hundred years...so I can't see that point being a relevant issue.
Her point against Tobacco companies was that they slipped tobacco products in to tooth paste (some would call that a "shady" business practice, but you may not). The point I was making is that while that is atrocious, its not something you can label all tobacco companies do.
