Trunks turns to meet his teacher at the first sounds of his entrance, as elaborate as it was. Standing on the back of an enormous toad, Trunks struggles to make out direct appearance of his teacher, although he is able to hear him clearly. Shouting upward, he responds as follows:
Toads have played a pretty big part in human history, and are one of the few animals that can be found almost anywhere in the world. From being used in different fairy tales, to superstitions about their association with warts (and witches in some places); toads have been part of our story telling, and Naruto is no different, but I'll get into that later. When one looks at a toad from an analytical stand point, a few things stand out generally across most toad species: their eyes, tongue, and hind legs. When hunting, toads often stay still and rely on their eyesight to find their prey, instead of wasting energy hopping around like a jack ass, saying "come out come out wherever you are." Once they find their target, which can be anything from insects to birds to other toads depending on the size and species of toad, they stretch out their tongue and reel it in. What makes the tongue so impressive is it can sometimes stretch out to twice the toads body length. All to often it is the case, though, that the hunter becomes the hunted. When this is the case, the toad tries it's best to get away using its very powerful hind legs to hop away for a speedy getaway. There are several more interesting things that I could have covered (camouflage, psychoactive toxins, suction cup feet things), but those are only found in select species, so they don't fit the demographic as a whole. Toads in this context aren't as helpless as the ones we are use too. In our training, the toads that are summoned by anyone whom has signed the summoning contract hail from Mt Myōboku, instead of anywhere and everywhere. It is here that the toads call home, it's where they are born, raised, trained, help with the new generation, and eventually die at. The Toad Ninjutsu arsenal is something to be admired as well. Each summoning has their own weapon specialty, for the most part. They have an assortment of oil and fire related Jutsu, due to the flammable nature of the oil they naturally create. Which is funny, considering most of them smoke (Seriously, I believe baby Gamakichi was one of the only Toads that didn't carry a pipe... Stoners.) Anyway, (personal theory here) with the *ahem* effects of pipe comes a oneness with nature. This allows more elder toads (such as Pa) to utilize nature energy, which is a beast on its own and not the topic of training. Toads here also grow to be several.. Thousand times bigger than usual toads, dwarfing most summons and buildings.
