i think snake and toad are really close and great for combat toad is more brute power when the snake is more speed and accuracy.

Slug.

When Snake or Toad get sliced, they are gone in a poof of Smoke. The slug just busts into a 100 pieces and can heal, communicate with its other pieces, etc. Slugs are way more versatile. Though the toads have the strength and the Snakes have the speed.

You can't say toad or snake as if they were all the same. Each toad is different. Each snake is different.

I have my doubts about the slug, though...

The only problem with slugs is that it's the biggest one and it can't die or get injuried

They are all within a dynamic equilibrium. Snake beat Toads, but Slugs beat Snakes, however Toads beat Slugs, making it equal, and very much like Rock-Paper-Scissors. Each one has their own utility that makes them powerful and unique. However, from what we've seen, toads have the most versatility and damaging potential because of various applications from Ma and Pa and their nearly non-counterable genjutsu (Frog Song).
