The Toads prophecy was that a student of Jiraiya's actions would either bring hope or great destruction to the world. Well while Naruto fulfilled Hagaromo's prophecy which predicted him and Sasuke sealing Kaguya as we see in chapter 1 of Boruto great destruction is inevitable regardless. Could Naruto have failed to tame the hostility in the hearts of man? Mitsuki certainly had something to say about Naruto's vision of hope. Perhaps now Boruto must be tasked with undoing Naruto's failure?

The Toad Prophesy stated that Naruto would bring peace or destruction.

Technically Naruto did bring peace, it just isn't permanent peace, or even close to it. So... I guess the prophesy was right in a way.

But is temporary peace even anything to write home about? It lasted for less than 10 years since Naruto became Hokage.

Naruto ending feuding between shinobi villages. War basically.

It's literally impossible to keep every living being a good righteous person. Just so happens one of those pose a actual threat and they want to end shinobi lifestyle period so it's clearly not an organized plot of a village. Thus Naruto still fulfilled it. He ushered in a new era with his ideals and effort.

But at the end of the day screw the prophecy and the chosen one business.

Yes Naruto beat Sasuke and ended the Shinobi cycle of hatred, at least for a while so it was true, I think the elder toad stated there were 2 students so Naruto acted as the peace keeper while Nagato acted as the destructive force through Akatsuki.

The toad never said that he would bring peace that would last forever.

People just assumed.

The cycle of hatred ended, this threat is different. It's more like terrorism than a new ninja war.

As you can see the war and conflict between shinobi ended ages ago, s there is zero to blame naruto for. It's currently Naruto's duty to carry on his will and legacy to his successors, whether it is himawari or boruto.

My response to the other thread:

No, Naruto ultimately succeeded. The prophecy only entails that Naruto would succeed in promoting world peace and implicitly carry on Jiraiya's own legacy in reaching the point where everyone will understand each other and work in harmony. This is something explicitly illustrated even when characters such as Shin and Momoshiki who are inimical to world peace are opposed by all of the Kages who worked in unity to reach a common goal.

To be honest, people are delusional if:

Obtaining world peace.
Establishing empathy through Ninshuu.
Defying destiny by temporarily terminating the fued between Ashura and Indra.
Enabling Bijuu to be thought of as humans and function in unity with human beings instead of being weapons of mass destruction.

Suddenly denotes Naruto as a failure. Not only was Naruto subsequently stated to be the Child of Prophecy along with Nagato after Nagato's death, but KCM Naruto disproving Raikage's false preconception of Naruto confirmed that Naruto was truly the Child of Prophecy. Even after war, war enthusiasts will always be running amuck as was the case with Madara where Madara sympathizers were roaming around Konoha even after Konoha proclaimed Madara as a traitor. The existence of war enthusiasts is denoted as a natural consequence of war and there's literally no way to prevent this.

I'm a Sasuke fan, but even I wouldn't deny how Naruto was the most successful in obtaining world peace.
