Looks like I'm all done watching through the To LOVE-Ru anime installments. Well, for now anyway. It's a shame that I have to wait for more OVAs to come out. That was a fast 58 episodes' worth.
Now that I'm all done with Darkness, I can confidently say it's the best season of TLR. I wouldn't say that it's leagues better than the rest, but it definitely sets the stage for some more awesome stuff to happen. There are still the over-the-top ecchi comedy moments that the previous seasons have, but Darkness is more serious than the other two. I'd almost say it's like the Rosario Season 2 for TLR, except Rosario's is much more plot oriented than Darkness. But even then, Darkness does a fantastic job. An antagonist of sorts is actually set up and a lot of mysterious elements come into play on top of the prior TLR antics.
Character development is best in Darkness, which is another big reason why I enjoyed it. So much Yami development. I thought I liked her growth in second season, but in Darkness we finally get a bigger picture. The backstory, the people she knew, how she was during her childhood, etc. Yami's character development was just stellar and Mea's presence added loads to it as well. Can't forget about Momo though. Momo's "build the harem" antics are very amusing, but regardless she can be really reliable and awesome all the same. I wish TLR had more fights, Momo is amazing whenever actual battles take place.
Gotta say I loved the opening too. For whatever reason it's just awesome and nothing in the series radiates epicness as much as the short fight sequence the Darkness opening shows.
I'll have to read the manga, I had a really good time with the anime (much better than I expected) and it feels weird to finish a series that long and not have anymore to watch. The good thing is that I know there's more to come, but it might take a while to be released.
