The 3rd War either lasted for a longer time after or the dna sped him up. Obitio had a decent growth spurt during this chapter in terms of his size. Same with Kakashi when it showed him during the 9 tails attack he was no longer a short little shrimp.

No, Rin didn't die in the war, the war ended after Minato, Kakashi, and Rin finally destroyed the Kannabi Bridge:

You can grow long hair in 1 or 2 years (the estimate between obito getting hit by rocks and battling minato).
Especially if the hashi cells speed it up.

Maybe the war has ended already and rin and kakashi are just on some mission and in trouble.
