Speed, only because you could apply it to your body in general, and use it to theoretically do things like, Shift through things and rip straight through solid objects by vibrating. Depends on the level of speed. Anything that even nears 100mph without the tiring is better than S/T for me.

SA Superman traveled through time using speed alone.

The faster you move, the slower time is around you. Something like that, right?

Speed is a powerful force that can affect time if fast enough.

I think speed is more versatile than time control, though, at least in real life situations.

correct I got bored at work and thought of the show Heroes. This is the scene I'm talking about though is when Hiro Nakamura stops time but all it did to Daphne is make her go normal speed.

This is basically what I want to talk about are time control and speed basically the same?
No, they are not.

If you really want to get down to the science of it, it's gonna be something like this. Time, is simply an idea. It doesn't actually exist in the conventional sense. It's something we made up. It can be compared to a force, to a degree, but even then it's not so. Best way to describe time would be the comparison between everything in the entire universe at two different moments. (I'm talking placement of atoms and everything). So really, time control is being able to "save" everything at that moment and either place yourself in that moment, effectively changing things, or speed/slow things down.

Speed on the other hand is an actual thing. Speed is Kinetic Energy. Kinetic Energy is the dependent on the movements of atoms. The faster they move, the faster the speed. The thing is, going faster than the speed of light doesn't shatter time. All it does is make you faster than the light can catch you. If you've ever learned about how sonic booms works, it's the same principle. You're moving faster than the light can catch you, so you'll appear invisible as long as you're moving faster, but you won't actually be traveling back in time. All it is, is you moving forward. Eventually, others will begin to see afterimages of yourself. To you though, you'd see nothing but darkness.

It really depends on "which" versions of time and speed you use. You could simply be talking about time being a real thing, with it's atomic unit being the theoretical particles, tachyons. These particles are said to move faster than light, which also gives a basis for connecting it to Speed. If tachyons were real, than those that can travel at speeds faster than light would basically react with tachyons, or time particles, and actually be able to move through time. Because in that reasoning, time is an actual thing.

It's all really convoluted and comics try to simplify things too much

Going faster than the speed of light shatters time, so yeah, they are.
Really? I was more under the impression that time slows down for any object as it moves faster. At the speed of light, time
essentially stops for a human being traveling at that speed. Any faster though begins to cause the person to move backwards
in time to create a balance between space and time where a user is always moving at a certain rate through space-time.
Moving too fast through space though causes one to move backwards in time as a counterbalance.

Thus, time isn't 'shattered' per say.

And to the OP, this depends heavily on how fast we are talking, and the limitations and constraints of the time control.
Can I freeze time? Does it tire me out? How long can I hold it? Can I move backwards in time? Or can I just slow down
time and fast forward time to a small degree?

Is my super speed light-speed? 500 mph? 50 mph?

I need more concrete numbers to make a decision.

well time control is obviously better.. you can change reality for one or all with time control.. you can literally be a God... but with speed you can only go forward unless that going in past thingy works which logically shouldn't be possible....

I was using the comic versions for this lol but I like logical replies as well they could take this discussion in different directions.

Lets go with flash speed as for time control all of the above no draw backs. Now back to the op since movie at the speed of light would slow the humans down around the user wouldn't a normal person feel the same way if a time user stopped time went from one place to another and restarted it? I mean for the regular people it would look exactly the same right?

so humans believe light is the fastest thing?, the eyes isnt only thing you should use.

though obviosly the laws of physics arent there to be broken either
There's something faster than light?

I don't really know the logistics and am mostly basing this off of comics and tv series

No it's not.

OT: Speed, definitely. Lots of practical uses. Decreased aging, physical fitness all your life, phasing through materials, great way to travel, OP as hell.
Couldn't a time user defeat a speed user though by increasing his aging, slowing him down to normal speeds and teleporting through time.

Time in what sense? Slowing down and stopping time? Reversing and travelling through time? Space-time?

Either way, I'll choose time.
All of the above basically said user would be a master of time while the other is a master of speed.

Time. I could see it being so useful.

Like if I I have to wake up early, I can just stop time get all the sleep I need, then continue it. If I'm waiting at the airport or on a bus I can fast forward the trip. I literally could be able to just stop everything and enjoy the beauty of life without anything to bother or distract me. I could rewind conversations to say the perfect thing, rewind mistakes or accidents.

Clearly I'm not trying to be a hero and I would use the powers for myself. But eh.

Nothing wrong with using it for yourself
