Time period in which SO6P lived?

Are there any info given so far that could be used to tell how long ago the sage of six paths lived? All I have is that Fukasaku and Shima jiraya and naruto's master is 800 years old and that the sage existed before that, so around 1000 years. Anyone have any idea?

Probably around a millennium before the present time. Fukasak and Shima are over 800 years old, and the Great Elder Toad Sage is senile even to them, so who knows.

Considering how much everything related to Sage and Naruto resembles christian beliefs and Jesus Christ, I would say Sage lived about 2000 years ago.
