Madara nor Hashirama are the reincarnations. Madara is just going by what was written on the stone. Hashirama didn't meet anybody.

I probably think that sage's meeting with Naruto is due to all 9 bijju's chakra. I don't think he meet Hasi

Hashirama didn't even know the story about the sage's mother who ate the fruit and the sage's real name, so I don't think the sage met Hashirama.

But problem is did the sage tell him? Because seeing as how it is.. Sage had been waiting for Naruto out of everyone else.

What other purpose would he have meeting Hashirama? From what was stated in the latest chapter, it's doubtful that he ever was the reincarnation of Ashura seeing as though Hashirama was always talented from birth and could do everything himself but only chose not to.

I'm not ruling out the possibility of it being Hashirama, but it seems unlikely because Hashi appeared to be out of the loop on most of the backstory regarding these things. He didn't know about the Sage's mom or that she had eaten the fruit or the truth of the Shinju. Wouldn't RS have told Hashirama these things like he's telling Naruto now?

I believe that Hashi and Madara were the brothers reincarnation. The sage cared about the tailed beasts. I think he might only appear to the reincarnations that the tail beasts acknowledge. I think only the person who will cooperate with the tailed beasts gets to talk to the sage.

While Hashi did have natural talent and a strong body, he also had an overwhelming desire for peace and was willing to give up his life just to get the Uchiha Clan to talk about peace with the Senju Clan. If that doesn't show Ashura's ideals, I don't know what else would. He also thought the tailed beasts were powerful tools to keep the clans in line so I don't think the sage would have bothered meeting him.

I think the sage is meeting Naruto now because he has come the closest to Ashura's ideals than any of his predecessors, if he doesn't get Naruto to grab this chance now there will not be peace for a very long time, if at all.
