Sealing something in the moon could be considered an attack. Creating stuff can be offensive, but i'm fairly sure i've read that it gave him power over creation and destruction. Why else would Obito try and wield it to battle Kurama?

It' s a sword of will, that explain why it was destroyed easily, Obito' s will was weak, very weak.

Exactly what i'm saying. Obito still wouldn't have whipped it out if it weren't a weapon.

It's a yin yang relesase technique he learned from the tablets. When attack the sword didn't explode it just clash before the breaking apart.
I think he used it because of the size was big enough to handle Sasuke's susanoo sword.

It's just hard for me to imagine a bunch of these fused together makes that powerful sword, don't you agree?
