That's a print record not sales.. Each one piece volume sells three million each.
One piece has sold 270 million volumes in total, in JAPAN only. 270 million / 67 volumes = 4.02 million each. (In Japan only, the number is higher for worldwide).
If what you saying is true, and One Piece sales are only 3 million each volume, then that must mean 1 or 2 volumes have higher sales than the rest, for the numbers to match up.
Quotes from Wikipedia:
"The first week sales of volume 60, at 2,094,123 copies, also broke the Japanese all-time sales record for all books in its debut week, and is currently the only book to reach the 2 million mark in its first week. "
"and the fastest manga series to reach sales of 100 million."
"One Piece's 60th volume held the fastest selling record until in February 2011, the manga beat its own record with its 61st volume, selling 2,086,080 copies in 3 days after its official sale (Feb 4–6)."
"270 million volumes sold in total in Japan."
Dragon Ball:
"By 2000, more than 126 million copies of its tankōbon volumes had been sold in Japan alone.[2] By 2007, this number had grown to pass 152 million in Japan and 200 million worldwide"
This confusing because I check the weekly manga ranking by sales on ANN every week and One Piece volumes make it up to 3 million but never get to 4 million. If that's true then ok![]()
They make it up to 3 million in 1 month or so. That doesn't mean they stop selling after 1 month.

Volume 64 sold 2 million in just 3 days.

Volume 65 sells 3 million in less than 2 months.
Atleast 8 other volumes have OVER 3 million, at the time that volume 65 was released.
They keep selling after that. And the sales numbers are from Japan only. When they get released in other countries, the sales go even higher.
