When I watched the anime I came across aizen telling ichigo that Ichigo was "the offspring of a HUMAN and a...." Then Isshin showed up and it was logical to assume that he was gonna say shinigami cause Isshin was one. But apparently it didn't play out that way in the manga

In this scan Aizen says "Shinigami and..." and by now we know he was gonna say Quincy. Which sets up a lot of the premise for the current arc. For those of you who have read all the manga this isn't news, but for those of us who only started reading after the Fullbring arc ended, I think it explains a bit. I know a lot of people feel this arc and the fullbring arc were just to extend bleach and they probably were to an extent and of course it has some weird plothole/retcons. But after reading this, I can say that this arc was planned to be added at least 4 years ago.

Do you think Kubo makes stuff up as he goes along? He improvises every once and a while but something of this magnitude was planned from the beginning, I caught that as well when he was cut off.

I think most Mangakas have a framework and ideas they want to put in each arc, but they obviously make revisions or change things up for pacing's sake, etc.

Kubo didn't really intented to make manga this way.

It's that Bleach get very popular, so he changed it so that it can be longer.

He started planning this arc during HM, not from the start.

Maybe if you read the entire manga, but I didn't and I'm sure some others around here haven't either. The anime says he is human and implies shinigami the manga says shinigami and implies quincy. Although you can figure that kubo had planned this arc, many feel the manga shoulda ended with aizens defeat, but kubo was planning this arc long before that so clearly he felt that some things needed explaining in the new arc (aizens motive)

Point being that I am sure a lot of people felt this arc was hastily added as aizens defeat drew nearer and that the fullbring arc was merely a device to get to this arc and was added hastily as well, but I think Kubo had already planned this well ahead.

Exactly my point, that Kubo didn't just panic because he was running out of content, he did have it planned awhile in advance.

Quincy are humans so I think Aizen tried to say that Ichigo is the son of a Human and a Shinigani and no need to mention Ichigo even said that the answer appeared in front of him without Aizen mentioning it.

In that chapter it says "offspring of a Shinigami and..." but in the next one it says "offspring of a human and...".

But technically Aizen was wrong anyway, since when Ichigo was conceived, Isshin was the human and Masaki was a Quincy...
