Yeah, this is just a speculative thread. In this image we could see something he had admitted
and
are pretty cool moments in 'development' for him. It would seem that he's taken to a more passive viewer of the events in the world- he may want Sasuke's body, but he also happens to be an adult, with twisted priorities. I think that was asserted in his character here. I think that's pretty cool- but how mature Orochimaru is comes up for debate. I think he learned something valuable from Kabuto, his only real subordinate. Ultimately, this boils down to viewing him as a sort of human being here- he's not insane in this instant, but he's more than a bit dry, inscrutable, and very intelligent. He's obviously an ever-ominous guy, always the creeps with him- but this is interesting.
As a result, I think it would be interesting if he escaped at the end of the manga, and did his own sort of hermit-like activity. I think he would be quite taken by maturing on 'his own' (unlike Kabuto) and watching the world his successors create.
This may be old hat to all of you, but any ideas on where he's going with himself after the war, etc.?
