Thoughts on English Dub?

Is it just me or is the English voice for Hashirama in the latest English dubbed episodes really bad, like really bad! Especially the scenes with him and Madara, literally some of the worst voice acting I've ever heard. Sub is sooo much better.

I really like it, has the combined talents of Vic Mignonga, Steve Blum, Troy Baker and more. Weebs who don't even give the voice acting talents we have a single chance are diminishing an entire industry lol.

The only terrible voices are unfortunately Hinata, Sakura and Part 1 Naruto's. The rest range from okay to amazing and dramatic.

I always prefer Sub over Dub for originality and to get that air of Japan. And the English versions are always going to sound a bit off because they're after all not the original voices for the characters and not as concerned for precision and articulacy as much as the Japanese versions which aim for perfection. Why does it not sound good again?

To me the voice acting was just lazy and there was no emotion or conviction in anything they were saying. I thought Madara was butchered because of it. They had him saying things like "Ohhhh yeahh" in this cheesy ass dubbed voice, 1) which sounds nothing like his actual voice and 2) is something his character would never say

Was it the old Madara around the time he and Hashirama wanted to start the village? It really sounds painful. You could try the Sub version for a change. I know its annoying, tiring your eyes trying to get meaning out of words coming on and off the screen but you get used it as time goes by; and the voices never disappoint. If it's Sasuke talking you know its Sasuke and their voices are exactly what you would expect from each character, not a Madara that says "ooh yeah" like he's a goofy teenager

Also VIZ doesn't have access to the wide range of Funimation voice actors so they rely on mostly those used to video game VA roles.

Dub is always better for sub helps you understand characters better, offers a wider range of emotion, humor, and simply sounds much better lol.

Madara's VA is pretty lit though, at least I thought so when he was doing Tobi, Hashi's is weird but not terrible.

Madara's english voice is GODLY. The Japanese dub is great also but I just always end up missing the fun voices of Might Guy, Sai, Shikamaru and Lee the most. I'm undecided on Hashi, Gaara & Kabuto's voices but they're still not distracting- just odd choices.

I did a short n snappy video on English Dubs a while back and I will forever defend good english dubs because there's a whole bunch out there.

When was Hashirama and Madara in the episode? I skimmed through the latest dubbed episode (374) to listen to their dubbed versions but I couldnt find any scene with them.

Hashirama and Tobirama's voices were utter trash, and when Madara and Hashirama were yelling at the end of the episode in which Sasuke questions the Kage, it was horrible.

Madara's yell was a joke in comparison to the emotion in his sub's counterpart.


They replaced Obito's original voice actor for some idiot trying to make a raspy voice. I actually liked his more smooth and calm voice which matched his calm demeanor throughout the episodes after he was unmasked, but no, they had to listen to butthurt fans that wanted Obito to sound like he had something caught in his throat.

The English dub has potential, but the voice actors seem lazy. The sub actors seem to be putting their all into it, and it's bad enough that the MC's voice sounds terrible in the new dub episodes, but that's my opinion.

It's a mediocre dub. There are some voices that ive enjoyed like orochimaru, madara and pain. Alot of times the voices just sound bland and weird. I'd actually recommend the sub over this, which is rare for me since i actually like dubbed anime.

The Naruto anime in terms of dub is 50/50. Being 300 episodes behind the sub doesn't help either. With the Japanese, I find the females annoying, everything single one of them.

Idk where this notion comes from that Sub actors put their all into their acting (or anymore than english) it simply sounds like that because they are always yelling lol and their natural voices have inflections we think is unnatural. Which imo puts me off entirely as I find it extremely annoying and ugly.

Episode 366-369 Is all the Hashirama and Madara stuff with the Warring States (I think that's right).
