Before I get started I have yet to master the art of making threads (It took me a freaking hour to find how to make one today.) So I will not be including manga strips or other such commodities with this thread. Thank you.

As we all know, there are several strong bonds within the Naruto Universe. A lot of these bonds have caused people to go out of their way to protect them.

And that's where their life ends.

I have noticed over the course of time that almost everyone that has had someone that they wish to protect they almost always die.

These will be in Chronological order, to the best of my knowledge.

The first people to do this were Naruto's parents. They had protected Naruto on the day of his birth from Tobi. After sealing half of the Nine-tails in Naruto, they died.

Fast forward and we come to Haku and Zabuza, though we see this one first as far as Manga goes. Haku literally loves Zabuza so much that he believed himself to be a tool of Zabuza's and ultimately sacrificed himself because he believed Zabuza was more important than Himself.

Hiruzen vs. Orochimaru was more of his Hokage duty, though I will include him anyway. I mean seriously, who doesn't love that old guy?

Kimimaru gave his life because he believed he was serving his lord Orochimaru. Misguided as he was he was willing to literally kill himself to make sure Sasuke got to him.

We see Gaara also saving the people of his village, and later Akatsuki finished him.

While this one isn't as an emotional attachment, Kakashi sacrificed himself to save Choji from the Asura path's rocket. Kakashi debated it in himself if he should save him aty the cost of his own life, but realized he had to save him.

The ever famous time when Hinata attacked Pain knowing she was no match for him to save Naruto. She was that in love with him, she was willing to die to try and save him. She lives thankfully.

Later when Konan attempted to save Nagato's body (I debated this one being in here since he was already dead) from Tobi. She fought Tobi to try and protect Naruto, just as Nagato would've wanted her too.

And finally we come to our most famous sacrifice: Itachi to save the life of Sasuke. Even though Itachi didn't die in the beginning, he still sacxrificed everything he knew for his little brother. A life full of promise was thrown away by ultimately Itachi's own selfishness. He even allowed Sasuke to kill him to "protect" him. I personally see a possible redemption for Sasuke, but I only see it through his death at Naruto's hands.

So this brings me to my final point. I believe that in the end, Naruto will die as well, protecting everyone from Tobi and the 10-Tails. I hope I'm wrong, but it is a reoccuring theme in the Naruto Universe, and one that seems fitting.

It began with a sacrifice, and will end with one.

Thanks for reading:)

It's a good theory, but let's be serious. Itachi was a man of honor, he's done so much for this business. And it's like you said, you have a lot of guys in the back like Haku, Zabuza, Minato, Kushina, Konan, Hiruzen, Orochimaru, Kimimaru and so on, but Itachi has seen it all, and done it all! He's a sure naruto hall of famer.

"It began with a sacrifice, and will end with one."

So very true. When one protects, I believe that they know of the consiquences and are willing to take that chance to protect those that are important to them.

Also your ending prediction with how both Naruto and Sasuke die, is indeed a sad ending but that is also what I have come to think is the most likely, most touching and most reasonable ending. Again, it would be incredibly sad, but it makes a heck of a lot of sense.

+Rep for the great thread and effort you put into it. :)

If he dies he dies having a hero who saves the day and no "good guys" die is dull

Not sure where you went with the Itachi thing after that though.

A true hero is the one who is willing to sacrifice himself for the good of others. Naruto has never hesitated to help someone, even those that hate him. His heroic nature just stems from the fact that he had nothing, it's poetic.

Thank you for taking the time as well:)

I agree with you It's like when you have a story where the good guy wins because of plot no justu (or just an easy plot hole.) That gets rather frustrating reading the same thing over and over of course.

First, It was Hiruzen duty as Hokage, but his love for his former student was also the cause he couldn't get rid of Orochimaru.

Second, Kakashi would of killed himself for anyone, if he has the time though.

Third, Itachi didn't have a life of promise. His life of promise was taken away since the moment he killed his clan and became a rogue ninja. He disregarded Sasuke of the truth, which even hurted his younger brother. Also, planning his death was a way to get Sasuke to the village and recognized as a hero.

Fourth, Sasuke getting killed by Naruto :sy: Itachi would look in the heavens shamed on Naruto's promise. I could see Sasuke saving Naruto, thus sacrificing himself.

Fifth, It could end the same way with his father. He died protecting the village, but Naruto died protecting the world. This one is 50%/50% to be honest. If Naruto dies we won't see him as Hokage.

Hiruzen's love ultimately caused more harm to come from Orochimaru, though no one faults him for good reason.

I believe he would as well, but even he didn't want to die like that. Nearly helpless and on the borders of death as it was.

In a hypothetical sense, if he hadn't killed the clan (or they hadn't plotted in the first place) imagine the good he could've done for the village and what he could've done for the Uchiha reputation.

That would be more fitting, but Naruto would blame himself for "breaki his promise" to Itachi ans Sakura.

That would be afitting end for Naruto. Perhaps they would name him Hokage post-humously? That would be very honorable.
