Sasuke should have died here, and Haku should have survived, and joined team 7. After Zabuza's death, haku could have taken sasuke's place, and team 7 would have thrived. Much less whining from sasuke, more ass kicking from Haku.

Also, when haku goes to the other side, it would have made it much more believable for naruto to keep pursuing Haku. Sasuke and naruto's bond is so forced, but if Haku left, it would have been understandable for Naruto to never give up in the pursuit to save haku. Haku and Naruto just had that natural connection.

Meanwhile, naruto caring for sasuke so much, is as dumb as sakura still loving sasuke. the dude was nothing but a crybaby, who was a jerk.

Hm...I've certainly never seen this look on the story before. But no, I don't think it would have bettered the story. Haku would have no reason to go to the dark side; as seen with Zabuza, one he's dedicated to someone he doesn't let go. He doesn't have that constant desire for revenge yhat Sasuke had.

Not to mention that Sasuke had so much more potential. As much as I enjoy Haku as a character, he's the literature version of a one trick pony. You can't really explore that much with his character in the setting you propose.
