i believe a thread is dead when it has finished it's usefulness , because if it was about the posts , than all the announcements that the mods make would be counted dead :| but they are still very usfull , and some threads just never end but you cannot seem to find any life in them

well since i'm not a mod , i think it should be clear that when i speak my opinion , i only speak for my self , and i never tried to act like a judge , i only said what i thought
and i'm sure there is no "global rule" that determiners the death of a thread
