This kid has the worst luck ever

Ka'Nard Allen, 10, does not want to talk about what must be the longest and hardest year of his life. He doesn't want to talk about Mother's Day, when he was grazed by a bullet at a second line parade in New Orleans' 7th Ward, one of 19 people injured in a mass shooting.

He doesn't want to talk about October, when his father, 38-year-old Bernard Washington, was fatally stabbed in eastern New Orleans by his stepmother after Washington allegedly choked and beat her. She has been charged with manslaughter.

And he really doesn't want to talk about his 10th birthday party last May 29, when his 5-year-old cousin, Briana Allen, was fatally shot and a bullet hit Ka'Nard in the neck. The man accused of shooting Briana was arrested last month and, last week, was among 15 people indicted on gang racketeering charges in that incident and many others

This kid really has the worst luck ever. His 10th birthday party got sprayed with bullets. He got hit in the neck and his 5 year old cousin died (others were injured as well). His dad got stabbed to death by his stepmom. And now, he got shot AGAIN at the Mother's Day second line....it only grazed his face thankfully. But damn....

Is there anything realistically that can be done to stop this senseless violence?

No, unless you want a police state. I'm sure in the far future(100s of years) that poverty will decrease, and with it, violence, robberies, gang violence etc.

It's a shame......all the key figures that wanted to bring peace were assassinated MLK JFK Lincoln Ghandi and so on they had something they wanted to project it just never got through and so here we are. I feel so bad for those who get caught in the cross fire of someone's selfish actions...people don't take the time to consider how their actions might effect someone else they live for today and not tomorrow satisfactions
