This speech he gave made me really like him as a character, even after all he's done. The fact that you can relate and like a villian and maybe even root for him at times is one of the reasons why i love one piece.

He's Luffy's antithesis. Dumb, strong, unpredictable, the whole "dreams" thing. Anything to get stronger, though for different reasons. Cheery, childish, though Luffy is brave and he's a coward.

I agree with you OP, that was very inspiring. It was so inspiring that Luffy showed his ambition (haki) after that speech. Jaya arc still remains as on of my favorite arcs up till today and BB was a huge factor of it.

yep i created a theory few months ago that BB will beat shanks and challenge Luffy for PK throne at the end of the series.

One of my favorite moments and speeches too. Along with Doffy's one at MF. Why is it the animatin and art looks so good here? I know animation these days is a lot more fluid but this looks so charming..I prefer how the anime looked back then.

antithesis: a person or thing that is the direct opposite of someone or something else.

Akainu/Smoker would be Luffy's antithesis rather than BB. BB shares much more similarities with luffy, rather than being his direct opposite, as you pointed out.

I agree with you except for the coward part. He was brave enough to try to kill Luffy and fight Ace.
He's just crafty which can be mistaken for being a coward. He gave shanks a permanent scar after all.
