Based on the shitty power level scaling in dbs, personally i think and am hoping the nipple guy being a dud leaves a slight chance for someone else to take his place (gohan).
Even after training with whiz, in the manga vegeta credited gohan by stating his potential still is above his and Goku's.

So i hoping gohan's character is being set up for some form of redemption but i doubt it.
