Mine was the only answer that made no sense? Well then allow me to explain: you are naive because you seem surprised that a human being would take advantage of a right they have. This happens all the time.

Civil rights are applicable to any person of any race, any age and any gender. So no, they didn't take advantage of the Civil rights.

Depends what you mean by take advantage.
Some "took advantage" of civil rights to better themselves and become more important members of society.
Others "took advantage" of their ancestors' suffering to become self-entitled neanderthals who don't want to take responsibility for themselves or their community.
