When you look at threads the number of posts says one thing, then when you enter the thread it also counts the op so the number is added with 1.
Shouldn't the number be the same?

It makes the sense OP's comment is # 1 and the count is based on that and increases after the first post (which is OP's) has been made.

Yes, but why can't you include his comment when you view the thread from the forum page?

Is it so you know what threads doesn't have any replies?

Yes, I believe it's done for the purpose of showing the number of replies when you are viewing the thread indirectly. That is my guess.

The number you see in () on the homepage/forum is the number of replies to the thread. The number you see in your CP is the number of posts in your thread.
