Talk about over-thinking
all he said was basically, "Naruto, I'll fight you AFTER I have fought Sasuke." Meaning, he planned on finding sasuke and defeating them, and then afterwards fighting Naruto. He never would have though his technique would backfire making it Sasuke AND Itachi vs himself.
