Throughout the whole series they keep talking about the Sage as a guy that wanted to bring peace and harmony to the world.

Why then did he make the uchiha stone tablet and carve out how to
a. increase their power
b, enslave the entire world

It makes no sense. This last chapter Madara quotes a line from the tablet that says when people possessing the power of the rinnegan get close to the moon the eye that can make the infinite dream come true will open to reflect on it. I'm assuming now that he wrote that for eyes that only rinnegan could read. if he didn't write it then who knew that the moon had the power to open a 3rd eye?

To my knowledge no one but the Sage had the rinnegan so only he would know this right?

Back track even further the moon is supposedly made from a gigantic chibaku tensei. Why does this giant rock have special powers? Why were Madaras not strong enough to open the eye? If the Sage made the moon then are you telling me he gave himself a power up by creating a tool to give him a 3rd eye?

None of these things sound like the doings of a man about peace. Why and how did he know about tsukyomi? Did he have this power? Did he envision putting the world under an endless dream? Is this world his endless dream like the matrix?

People keep talking about the other brother and his importance. Something tells me there is more to the story about him and his brother sealing the ten tails. Hagoromo just skipped the whole part about what happened to his brother after the ten tails was sealed in him but why would kishi mention it if that wasn't important for something.

Well he said that he made it to curb their intention of doing what Madara has been using it for, but Indra's descendants have altered it

I have a strong feeling that either the Sage didn't make the tablet, but his son or mother.

And if he did, it was probably messed around with by someone else.
If this isn't the case, then that would be quite strange for the sage to do.

I agree that Hagoromo's actions don't seem to make sense. It's as though he walked a path similar to Indra's until later in his life.
When he told the story of his two sons, he recognized the superior natural ability of the elder one. "In the way Ashura lived", he saw a new possibility, which means he changed his way of thinking.
The sage also told Natuto he left the stone with "guidance on reforming one's thinking", but in fact the stone contains the instructions to allow the user to enslave everyone. Either the story hasn't been completely told about the sage, or Kaguya somehow is continuing to influence events.

I believe Indra may have written that part.

I'm assuming now that he wrote that for eyes that only rinnegan could read. if he didn't write it then who knew that the moon had the power to open a 3rd eye?

Not necessarily. Indra may have unlocked it as well and Hagoromo's brother was his twin. He may have possessed the same eyes and antagonistic ideals.

Back track even further the moon is supposedly made from a gigantic chibaku tensei. Why does this giant rock have special powers?
Because it was used as a seal for gidou mazou. There also looks like there may have been two moons during the Ootsutsuki era.

Why were Madaras not strong enough to open the eye?
Madara didn't have the juubi or Shinju at the time. He was also not born with the Rinnegan and did not eat the god fruit.

If the Sage made the moon then are you telling me he gave himself a power up by creating a tool to give him a 3rd eye?
It isn't really confirmed yet if Hagoromo had a third eye. The thing on his forehead may be a tattoo or he may have unlocked it when the Juubi was sealed inside of him.

None of these things sound like the doings of a man about peace. Why and how did he know about tsukyomi?
It's implied Kaguya was the one who used it.

Did he have this power? Did he envision putting the world under an endless dream? Is this world his endless dream like the matrix?
Hagoromo tried to connect people's chakras, allowing them to read each other's minds and hearts with Ninshuu. There's no indication he used infinite Tsukuyomi.

People keep talking about the other brother and his importance. Something tells me there is more to the story about him and his brother sealing the ten tails.
I agree there.

Hagoromo just skipped the whole part about what happened to his brother after the ten tails was sealed in him but why would kishi mention it if that wasn't important for something.
Kishimoto may have plans for him later. People are theorizing all sorts of things. He being the shinigami, Jashin, another super antagonist that will return somehow etc.

"Up! I don't dislike, don't understand or dislike something that is not fully elaborated yet! Bad writing!"

I bet you do that quite a bit since it's so easy for you.
Was the need to make a snide comment towards him necessary?

It is bad writing when the main character doesn't even bother to inquire why the tablet contained said information.
Even if it's going to be elaborated upon in the future, why not when Naruto met Hagoromo? The tablet has been something of utmost importance thus far, yet, the main character is written in a way to not ask the man who wrote it himself why?
Okay...

At least Hagoromo acknowledges the fact that he screwed up.

Yes it was and you are not the user I was addressing, so with all due respect, butt out.

Bad writing is a subjective phrase. It's only bad based on a point of view and that portion of the chapter was badly translated. There are three different versions of it. Furthermore, Hagoromo died, so he couldn't have stopped alterations or expansions to the tablet after his time. He also left out details about his mother and brother, which could foreshadow something else.

Even if it's going to be elaborated upon in the future, why not when Naruto met Hagoromo?
Because it may be something he did not do but instead what someone else did after his time.

The tablet has been something of utmost importance thus far, yet, the main character is written in a way to not ask the man who wrote it himself why?
It is not stated Hagoromo wrote the whole tablet. You may recall it is called the Uchiha stone, has writings for all the ocular tiers, not just the rinnegan and is hidden in their secret meeting room under their village.

At least Hagoromo acknowledges the fact that he screwed up.
So far, the only indication of a "screw up" he made was choosing Ashura over Indra, rather than making them both his heirs, which I more or less would agree with considering how spoiled rotten, power hungry and selfish Indra came off as. The only drawback being that Indra and the Uchiha were geniuses and their emotions were altered by their ocular powers.

Simple, Hagoromo wrote what his mother did, like how he has done with his history e.g. his mother eating the fruit, why she ate the fruit, what she did after she ate the fruit, the kid she had(she had two but Madara said only one child...), what her child did to stop the god tree, her child then had two kids etc.
q&a should wait for the ending.

I will not "butt out" when you make your attack known on a public forum - where everyone is involved in. Stop being rude, not only to him, but to everyone as well. It doesn't progress the subject at hand nor is it needed. I'm not here to initiate a quarrel nor am I antagonizing you, but if you two have had problems in the past, take it up in a private message or something.

Bad writing isn't subjective, actually. When you get random progression (character-wise or power-wise) out of nowhere for the sake of convenience, it IS bad writing, because we're not only collectively scratching our heads in confusion, but we're forced to swallow this information in order to understand the story. I'm not stating that it sucks the enjoyment out of the manga - quite opposite of that, really- but it is what it is, and you can't deny that.

It is not stated Hagoromo wrote the whole tablet. You may recall it is called the Uchiha stone, has writings for all the ocular tiers, not just the rinnegan and is hidden in their secret meeting room under their village.

In chapter 671, he states that he left the stone monument (tablet) to allow people to reconsider their quest for power.

The only drawback being that Indra and the Uchiha were geniuses and their emotions were altered by their ocular powers.
He also states that he was naive to entrust the world with the information he left in the same chapter. Meaning he regrets his actions. Although Naruto reassures him that he wasn't wrong, Hagoromo believes he was.

Let the user fend for himself and stop ass kissing simply because you believe "I am mean."

Stop being rude, not only to him, but to everyone as well.
If you have issues with me, you are free to report me or put me on ignore anytime you want but I will not be courteous to someone who does not share the same courtesy.

It doesn't progress the subject at hand nor is it needed.
Actually it does. It informs the other users of the particular users' personality and at times makes he or she think of their actions before replying. So again, with all due respect, butt out.

I'm not here to initiate a quarrel nor am I antagonizing you,
Lol bullshit.

but if you two have had problems in the past, take it up in a private message or something.
If you have a problem with ad hominum, it is your own. Do not ever come into a discussion I'm have with another member knowing absolutely nothing you are talking about and presume to order me around again. As I stated, if you have a problem with me, report it or put me on ignore. I'm not taking any crap from you. And considering you have only three posts, not to mention the particular way you are responding to me, I'd say it's safe to say I know who you are and that you are another user double accounting, so do not throw stones busy little bee, lest I'll bat them back at you.

Bad writing isn't subjective, actually.
It is. I have no interest in your opinion of it because you possess no concept of writing.

When you get random progression (character-wise or power-wise) out of nowhere for the sake of convenience, it IS bad writing,
No, it is your opinion. And now I definitely know who you are. If you're going to argue that logic, you may as well say the same thing for all plot twists people cannot see coming. There is no logic, validity or objectivity in your statement. Hagoromo was foreshadowed throughout the majority of part two with his history and powers physically manifesting in the world. He was the creator of ninjutsu/ninshuu, saved the world from a rampaging titan and became renowned as a god himself with cosmic powers. Presuming he would have no influence in this war or not seeing it coming and thus calling it bad writing when he does is a narrow-minded notion. Either get over yourself or write your own "bad writing."

because we're not only collectively scratching our heads in confusion, but we're forced to swallow this information in order to understand the story.
Boo hoo. Stop acting like a hive mind, Borg Queen. I am not you, I am me. And you are not me, you are you, so shut up and stop forcing me to swallow your own tripe. Not everyone on this forum *****ed about Hagoromo like you. The majority were exhilarated and another degree of people predicted and wished for his intervention, myself included.

I'm not stating that it sucks the enjoyment out of the manga - quite opposite of that, really- but it is what it is, and you can't deny that.
Deny what? Your narcissistic, superficial, subjective, dogmatic, hypocritical, contradictory tone? Again, get over yourself. And do not tell me what I can or cannot deny. I don't like it.

In chapter 671, he states that he left the stone monument (tablet) to allow people to reconsider their quest for power.
And the Uchiha took and hid it under their village for centuries and named it the Uchiha stone. If you believe he wrote everything on it and that it was not subject to alteration or expansion like any other ancient text when there is nothing at all pointing towards that, it is your own affair.

He also states that he was naive to entrust the world with the information he left in the same chapter.
That portion was referring to the bijuus, not the tablet. Stop twisting information around to support your unfounded claims.

Meaning he regrets his actions.
Someone regretting their actions does not mean they were wrong. Naruto stated afterward he was not wrong and more or less proves it by being able to harmonize with the bijuus and using their power to fight Madara and Obito as well as saving the alliance with them by piecing Kurama's chakra out to them.

Perhaps it's just believed that it was the so6p that carved that tablet. We know nothing of his brother. Not even Madara knew so6p had a brother as he believed it was so6p that carved the tablet.

Maybe hagoromo was manipulated by kaguya while she was sealed inside him so she can have one of indra's incarnations or descendants free her....
