It's been stated (by obito i think) that Itachi had a terminal illness (one that will kill him).... And i believe (unsure) that it's also been said that he overused his MS (before he actually lost his eyesight...) I don't think he did overuse it until the fight with Sausage... Also, everyone knows he was seen coughing up blood.

It has never been said what the disease ACTUALLY WAS, other than the fact it's terminal..

What are the chances that it strikes Madara, somehow? Itachi presumably had it for years, but just for the story, what is madara is a "carrier" and it somehow ends up effecting him in the fight against naruto and sauke? It hasn't been explained yet, and the manga isn't over. Kishi isn't careless enough to let something like that go unexplained.... It's kind of an idea I tossed around up there.

Itachi's disease was the result of Susanoo.

In the databook, it's stated that Susanoo eats away at the user's life.

In fact, when Itachi used Susanoo and started coughing up blood and falling over, Zetsu said that Susanoo isn't without cost.

When Sasuke got Susanoo, he was only using a partial Susanoo and started coughing up blood and saying how every cell in his body was in pain. He then wondered to himself what a mastered Susanoo was doing to Itachi.

Fans suspect that since Itachi was coughing up blood that he likely had tuberculosis. That is, in fact, a lung disease.

Interesting fact is that in myth, while Amaterasu and Tsukiyomi were born from Izanagi's eyes, Susanoo was born from his nose... which you breathe from.

In conclusion, Itachi's unspecified disease is the result of Susanoo. Amaterasu and Tsukiyomi deteriorates your eyes, Susanoo deteriorates your body.

Itachi had an illnes that some guy explaind Rather well, But Kisi killed him for two reasons, 1. OP 2. Due to plot :D
Reason #2 is correct, reason #1 is grossly inaccurate.
