It's not. It's a friendship. Both parties appreciate the others. Gaara really appreciates Naruto a lot though, which makes perfect sense since he went through a lot as a kid. So, I don't see the issue. Both are friends who respect and like each other.

Well if you haven't noticed yet. Most of these characters from this manga have had some sort of connection with the main characters to stay relevant to the story. It is to make a character look better than they already are. I see it more as a strategic way for Kishi to convey to people who the main character is. I see nothing wrong with that because in my view it has worked. Besides aren't most manga this way?

Tbh the way Kishi tries to shove Naruto's awesomeness through other characters make Naruto more dislikable in my book, there is no utmost wank for main character of KnB and FMA for ex. and i like them a lot.

A main character should be able to carry to plot well while adding up to other characters, not drag them down. It feels way too forced and if an author tries way too hard to make a character look better that means that character is not even that good.

What I wanna say is if you have very little panel time, and you think of Naruto on average 4-6 of your panels you truly are a wanker.
It's basically devoting 45% of your life to worshiping the guy who saved you from a fire.
