*sigh*
The problem is that racism gets used as an excuse to belay personal development more often than racism is actually involved.

You see, there's a double standard. The 'black culture' wants to be able to collect into itself as a social clique, but it doesn't want to be called a clique. They say "My people" but cry racism when they are properly called "you people."
Personally, I've had enough of it. I don't have a problem with people who happen to be black. I enjoy getting to know people. But the ones who constantly want to whine and complain about some imaginary bogey-white-man need to shape up or ship out.
Now, yes - there is a 'conspiracy' against minority groups, and it's called welfare:

My family immigrated from Germany with nothing (well, my direct patriarchal lineage did - my matriarchal lineage has ties back to the native Americans - the Cherokee, in particular) - so I'm a pretty hard sell on the "poor me" arguments from various minorities. My family put thought to muscle and made something happen. There is a historic landmark in the metropolitan of St. Louis that bears my family name because of my family (it doesn't just happen to have the same name - there are very few people with my last name running around... some people in California, interestingly, of no known relation - they own a winery, and it's some pretty good wine), and my family has ties to the construction of the St. Louis Arch.
Yet they struggled to learn English. World War I and World War I: Part 2 didn't really do them any favors as there was considerable hostile sentiment toward German migrants (though that little part gets washed from history because it doesn't fit the idea that somehow 'white' people are involved in some massive conspiracy against the blacks because they supposedly have big dicks, or something).
But you know what? They developed their persons. They knew and/or learned trades. They supported each other in their attempts to integrate into society as a whole. They didn't want to be seen as "Germans" - they wanted to be seen as part of America.
And they did it so well that the idea that they struggled to do so is outright rejected by most people, today - because "how can white people struggle to be white?"
At what point do we begin holding people to standards?
No one in my patriarchal lineage (and quite likely no one in my matriarchal lineage) owned slaves. Hell, most of them weren't even around for the Civil War (and the few that were had just been stuffed into the reservations by Jackson in direct violation of a supreme court order).
And yet I'm supposed to shoulder the blame for some kind of mistreatment toward blacks (Most of whom, by the way, have no hereditary ties to slavery in America). Why?
Because I have white skin?
But we can't have that conversation because it exposes the truth of the whole racism issue.
It is warlords stirring up racism to gain power. That is all it is.
In Yugoslavia they did it to convince the Serbs (Eastern Orthodox non-muslim whites) to try and exterminate the Bosnians (virtually identical white people - but somehow it was a matter worth extermination), and then you had the Croatians, and somehow the Montenegrins came into being (though they are largely serbian... but not serbian...)
Race is a political power trip. That is all it is.
America used to be such a land of freedom that it obliterated racial divides. Even in the bumpy roads for blacks in America following the civil war - the tensions were largely starting to ease as it became obvious that money and services from blacks were just as good as money and services from whites (and in many areas, particularly the deep south - you had to do business with blacks because they were a very high percentage of the population). It was going away.
The civil rights movement was stirred up when the blacks migrated north into the "progressive" states where unions dominated the scene. Blacks came in and began undercutting the unions - and that is what prompted the racial tensions to spike in the North (which is where the most intense rights issues were - since the blacks were seen as foreign invaders who 'took our jobs').
But you don't hear this in school. The meaningful history isn't taught.
You're taught that there was inequality and the government wrote a law and equality had to be forced upon the people because they didn't want to accept the wisdom of the government.
When, in reality, most of the government actions were completely inflammatory to the issue. Bussing was about the worst idea imaginable. "Let's take kids from one school and put them in another school full of kids who just had some of their friends uprooted because the parents of the 'new kids' wanted them to tour the school. That will teach them to accept each other."
Then Affirmative Action doomed blacks to low performance in college, not to mention made many people concerned about the idea that people were being accepted/denied based on racial quotas as opposed to actual performance.
But what you're taught is that welfare exists because blacks need it to survive (because, you know, you all are too incompetent to take care of yourselves like the rest of the population) - and then the issue is deflected toward race - obviously, since the 'white people' (Germans, British, Irish, Indian, Russian, Finnish, Italian, French ethnic lineages) are some kind of resounding success, and blacks have a bit more trouble - it must be because there's some kind of bias against you all on the part of the whites.
And, generally speaking, black people buy it (along with a shit ton of whites). When you look at the state of public schools and the state of the media (which is an absolute disgrace - never touching on reality in the slightest) - it makes sense that they would. They are taught nothing but a slanted view of history, a slanted view of politics, and convinced to believe that anyone of a certain ideology is just hateful and bigoted.
But I am rambling.
My point is that "*****s" need to stop being "*****s" and be people. Most notably - they need to develop trade skills. How to weld, how to troubleshoot, how to type, how to use building techniques, how to operate machinery, how to draft designs - how to function within the economy that the rest of us (to include many blacks) do.
Stop buying into the political nonsense that there is always some conspiracy against you. For shit's sake.
