This is not a joke, nor a troll. I swear that this is the truth.
I'm a sophomore in high school. My teachers say I'm very logical and that I should become a lawyer. I hardly study for tests, because, well, using deductions to find the correct answer comes naturally for me. My IQ is roughly 140. My family is Christian, but I'm bordering on atheist as I don't believe in things without evidence. You can find this information scattered in other threads, I guarantee it's not made up. Why am I telling you this? Because I'm not the type of person who calls very explainable events paranormal.
But I just had a paranormal experience. Or at least, that's the only explanation I can think of.
I was home alone, because my mom went up to my sister's house, and my dad went to drop our truck off to get repaired. My blanket was in the dryer, and I was sitting in my basement, waiting for it to finish. From my position, I could hear the dryer very clearly.
With about twenty minutes left to go, it suddenly stopped. I was watching a Bleach episode so I couldn't be bothered to check on it. After another five minutes, I heard the dryer door open. This freaked me out at first, but then I reasoned my mom had probably forgotten something, come back, and was messing with the laundry stuff like she always does. So I went upstairs to make sure.
My confidence rose further when I heard distinct footsteps in the living room (my house has wooden floors). It was my mom after all. Or so I thought. I spent the next few minutes searching around the house for her, but not a single person was here.
At this point, I was legitimately scared. Even though I was in pajamas, I just had to get out of the house, so I waited on the front porch for my dad. Luckily he arrived a few minutes later. I explained everything to him. Being the skeptic he is, he laughed it off. But when we walked into the house the lights began flickering. Trust me, I know that sounds like a ghost cliché. But I swear that happened.
My 50 year old, skeptic dad immediately ran to the safe, grabbed his pistol, and began searching the house. He found nothing.
That was about an hour ago, and so far nothing else has happened. But I still have goosebumps running up and down my arms. That's how real of an experience this was for me.

Has anyone else had what you think was a paranormal experience?
