Not so fast.
As Ling sees you switch the way you grip your Kunai, and as you begin to maneuver your arm so as to block his slash by holding your Kunai blade perpendicular to his, rather than indulging in a futile stalemate, Ling simply alters the course of his blade by twisting his arm and raising his right elbow, so that instead of a simple horizontal slash, the course of his swing diverts in a curve upwards; grazing along your Blade as it does so. Ling twists his whole body to the right as he takes this action, as well as stepping inwards with his left leg so as to accumulate power leaving his left shoulder facing you. Which also closes off entry to the majority of his body, lastly he enforcing his upwards swing with his left hand by placing it on his swords pommel. Ling would finish his upwards diagonal slash with his hands held just a little above and to the right of his head with both of his elbows bent and positioned on the right of his body. While performing the slash, so as to give his sword an even greater reach he releases his hyouton chakra, materializing a thin Ice coating around his sword that gives it a much greater length at the cost of some added weight. The slash would carve a course through the upper parts of your chest, upwards towards your collar bone and slightly into the left shoulder, and would finish off by grazing the left side of your neck. (The left side of your torso; Ling's view)
Immediately after finishing the slash, Ling being unsure of how you might attempt to counterattack simply skips backwards to a safe distance. Maintaining full view of you at all times.

(Hyouton no Jutsu) Ice Release Technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage: 30
Description: The user can use this jutsu to make it begin to snow down on the terrain, or, much like the “Earth Style Technique” the user can make small pillars or shields of pre-existing ice or make it materialize (if from Haku's Clan). If this is used to make snow, then after 3 to 4 turns most of the terrain will be covered.
