There was NO THIRD COFFIN ?

I don't see a third coffin, even a failed one. Hiruze threw some shurikens and said he was able to stop it. How ? There wasn't anything to stop! I don't see any coffin with 3 written on it ( or 4, for the 4th ) All his shurikens reached the only 2 coffins we see on the pages.
I know that there is a ongoing plothole issue. THAT'S NOT MY POINT I want to know if there was a 3rd one in the anime. I remember seeing one. Why would they add if it weren't in the manga ?

Right where ? If you mean the one on the panel where Oro speaks, that makes no sense. Take a look on the first panel (the one with the large view, where you see all the summoned coffins) you can see that there are only two.
Or notice how the coffins leave marks on the roof, yet there are only two large marks which prove only two where summoned,chp 118-p1

I looked carefully before posting this because I knew I'd get these kind of answers. Just show me panel where you can see the third coffin. I know Oro said : three! Which means he obviously planned to summon a third one but I can't see it. I'm asking for enlightment, not smart @ss comments, I do those very fine

Lol I didn't mean that the Third Hokage doesn't have a coffin, I meant that I can't see the third Edo Tensei coffin that Oro tried to summon in any page of the manga. In the anime, one is depicted. I just wonder how and why is that so

Oh good! Now you see what I mean I never noticed too. It probably wasn't even summoned.
I was re-reading through the series when that caught my attention. That' weird, huh ? I think the anime conditionned our mind. I see a lot of people talking about the symbol on the third coffin, like that was fact.

Yeah, most likely. The anime shouldn't have added that extra coffin. On top of that there is the plothole issue with Orochimaru trying to summon the 4th but that's for another thread ^.^

I have always thought that had been a mistake in the anime. Either they thought they understood the comic when they were adapting it or something, or it wasn't too big a detail to worry about. The manner that the coffin slides in and back out just looks awkward like they didn't know what to make it do. It makes sense that Oro would have tried to summon the 4th, he had no idea about the Death Seal. Would he have known there was a problem at the time he was putting it together?

My interpretation of the comic is that because the 4th's Edo Tensei failed, Sarutobi realized that the Death God Seal would work on the other Edos and so he used it after he figured out there was no other way to end them, even if he killed Orochimaru. That's because he knew the 4th sealed himself.

No, it was going to be Minato.

But because Minato was sealed by Shiki Fuujin, he could not be summoned.

Hiruzen thought he stopped it, but it failed because of that.
