Let me ask you this

What was the reason for neji to remain alive? He had no more development as a character & he was just a background character after becoming part 1's mini "antagonist".

Also somebody needed to die, If it wasnt neji then another one of the k11 would've still died, but who's death would make more of an impact, neji's or kiba's?

out of the K11 the most meaningful would have been shicka. he was the planer, he had never wanted to do anything real important with his life, run away from everything and he would have thrown it all away for naruto's sake.

on the contrary, someone needed to die in this war before it became utterly ridiculous, although it was only a minor death since neji was a minor character, I didn't care for his death at all, just happy to finally see people dying as bad as that sounds

I believe that another purpose of Neji's death was to demonstrate the limitation of the Byakugan as compared to the other 2 great dojutsus. Think about it, Neji was an unrivaled genius in his clan, and if anything, his Byakugan was the prime specimen of the Hyuuga. All while the Sharingan was shown to have multiple stages, and the Rinnegan is clearly the strongest dojutsu.

We already established at this point what the powerfulest dojutsu is it's pointless to do that even if he's a genius of his clan that doesn't matter that is like saying he killed off Itachi because he wanted to prove that the Uchiha and their dojutsu have limits to their eyes abilities and that they aren't as godly as he accidentily made them out to be.

Neji died to protect Naruto and Hinata.

Neji was the reason that Naruto first acknowledged Hinata. By doing so, Naruto also recognized that he and Hinata were the same. In other words, Neji was a driving force for Naruto's early development in the series, and Naruto likewise helped to develop Neji as a more complex character.

Neji was also the Leaf Villages most gifted person from that generation. He is from the most well-recognized family and has the highest level of skill within that family. His willingness to sacrifice himself for Naruto and Hinata is not meaningless. By contrast, Naruto and Hinata were both failures in terms of skill and ability. In other words, Neji's death represented a changing to the guard and an everlasting bond between Naruto and Hinata.

You have a point about his death strnegthening their bond and making it more evident or foreshadowing rather the fact that they are going to get together and sakura will get b*tch slapped by Hinata for punching naruto,finally!!:devil:

I get it someone did need to die because them just standing there and talking was getting boring which is exactly what he is doing right now again also I don't see him as a minor character so much as he didn't appear as much as he should've.

Well it did play a bit of a role. This was the point in time by which Naruto felt defeated, feeling unable to live up to his promises and keeping his loved ones safe. He definitely seemed to be at his breaking point; without his comrade's support... who knows what Naruto might have done. Although his death did feel pretty forced. He was forgotten for quite a while, and it seemed that he was intentionally hyped that chapter just to lead off with his death. Personally I thought that even Shikaku's death was better pulled off (even though I was disappointed at his actual plan).

This is also going to be a key point in Rock Lee's life. His goal was to finally beat Neji in a battle... but now his friend dies right then and there. Kinda reminds me of a certain Fairy Tail scenario..

He lost his sensei & just lost his father. It would've been a troll move on kishi's part to kill off shikamaru too (or Ino).

Some one who wasn't a major character but had a good amount of Impact on Naruto's life had to die.

Neji was chosen...since Rock Lee apparently is still needed.

Also, Neji served to prove that reality is better than a world full of fake happiness because of the significance reality gives to life.

Well...Itachi pretty much dies due to exhaustion...which was caused by the usage of his MS...

And no, it's not. You're relating it to Itachi's death for shits and giggles. I'm making a different kind of observation, a potential reason as to why Neji was the one to die out of all of Naruto's comrades.

Well my opinion basically stays the same except for he could've done it to strengthen hinata and naruto's relationship.

The only hope we have is for The Studio Pierrot to give us some fillers based on Neji spotlight

It seemed like he died for a pairing which I do not give a f*ck about it is becoming canon or not, but in the end; someone had to die.
I wish he had other chances than death to escape the destiny; it is terrible enough to see him die for a main family member and a child of prophecy .
Personally; Hinata could have die there right there right now and I would just say "meh", she still lacks dimentions.

Also it seems like the fight between Lee and him will never happen, Lee already had few but valuable goals; and he lost one of them, I hope it adds up to his development or maybe leads to 8th gate by him or Gai; othervise I do not see a point.

But it also had a an aim to bringing up the words "I will keep my real friends inside me", so it means human life is more than walking around as flesh and blood, I hope Lee and others will be manage to carry his will that they should keep alive.

But overall; he had potential, Hinata could show her own potential when he was alive too, I do not see how Neji intervenes with her potential.

And 615 was a disgrace to his death, more of his character and his bonds to others; especially his teammates should have been shown, imho, the thing people are saying at the end of that chapter should not be "omg Naruhina iz canon", it should be something like "8th gate is revealed" or "it was a nice tribute to Neji's death"
