Madara intervened and forced obito to revive him. (Rinne tensei doesn't give you the body of the one who used the justu to the one reincarnated)

The explosion was madara breaking free of the seal.
He didn't break free initially because it was the perfect cover and time to activate his will with no suspicion.

It was not because he could not break free.
The most obvious giveaway is the fact that he broke free lol

Now if you were madara and wanted to make sure your plan worked why go out of your way and break the seal and get everyone's attention on you while you execute your take over of obito's body ?

That would be stupid and counter productive.

Madara used the opportunity to force his will when everyone thought he was subdued.

Then promptly broke out of it.
