There is a reason behind Itachi's trust in Naruto!

Itachi is not the type to blindly and whole heartedly believe in something, Itachi has also heard of the legend bieng in the Uchiha im sure it is written in the Nakano Scripture, about the 'other' child of the Sage, through whom they must gain the Rinnegan! And they know Naruto is the current incarnation, by 'they' I mean Itachi, Sasuke and obviously Madara. That is why they all have respect for him. Some go as far as to Trust in Naruto, with reason and with Power!

by possessing shisui's feelings i think he meant that shisui try to stop the coup d etat and the slaughter of the uchiha clan, when naruto said he wouldn't kill sasuke and would make sure sasuke didn't attack konoha it might have reminded itachi of shisui
