I know there had been a lot of thread about this..But I can't resist express my opinion about this...
1) We all know that tobi is obito and he loves Rin so much that he wanted to revive Rin from death.But for him to revive Rin he need to use rinne tensei .But who ever use rinne tensei will die for sure.So even he revive Rin if he die he can't live with Rin in his dream world. SO his plan was to give him the rinnegan and make him to use rinne tensei to revive Rin. That's why he closely watches sasuke.
2) He expected Nagato to die in the fight against Naruto

But in the same page says that he is not planning to sync sasuke with gedo mazo.So that there is also some possibility that sasuke won't get rinnegan. But if we concentrate on Obito's plan we know that he only care about living with Rin in dream world.So he has no other choice to sasuke give the rinnegan.
3) Obito will use rinnetensei to revive Madara to became a non edo and Rin. So Obito will die.But he will entrust zetsu to give sasuke the rinnegan and use rinne tensei to revive Obito.
But the question is wheather sasuke will spoil his life for Obito
