Still makes me wonder how he can be caught by the marines.. note the world's strongest pirate, and still not be dead. Either nobody actually tried to kill him or he can tank admiral level DF's. I'd say we're underrating him if we suggest any OP force can crush him when WB couldn't. Same applies to poison and drowning, don't you think he'd have tried both of those if they were possibilities for a suicidal beast?

Yeah about that, how do you only get defeated 7 times but captured 18? I'm no mathematician but that doesn't seem to add up properly.
It was never implied that he has always been someone who wanted to suicide throughout all of his life otherwise he wouldnt have been this strong nor he would have gathered up a strong enough crew to become a yonko, its completely a mistery when did he develop the desire to kill himself, but based on how hard his life as a pirate was as we see he was even tortured like 1,000 times during his life and was given the death sentence up to 40 times he may have developed the desire to just die like anyone normal, its still not clear to me but lets not just jump to conclusions.
Defeated 7 times could probably mean defeated in a 1v1 fight, while being captured means a lot of ways, like being assaulted by a number of enemies or even fleets of groups of marines/pirates, it not like he is an undefeated guy, going by how I see it its that the guy just cant die due to pure immense strength and luck.
