The manga didn't exactly say that the Hyuga came from the Uchiha. The manga just stated that the sharingan's origins may lie within the byagukan...

We don't know how the Hyuga are connected to the sage, we just know that they are related to him somehow. People just assume that the Hyuga descended from the Uchiha without any official evidence. Right now any theory is possible...
