Theory: Tsunade attempted to learn Sage Mode.

Well you are right in this way she mastered byakugou wich maybe is a replica of hashiramas sage mode in terms of the ability of instant regenaration
But i also think she used byakugou instead of her sage mode against madara because byakugou is better for fight
When the fight against madara finished and tsunade summoned katsuyu i think there was a special reason for the summoning of katsuyu
I think she summoned katsuyu not just for the reason to bring the kages to her i thinks she will use a combo jutsu and enter her sage mode to heal the kages with katsuyu

Yup thanks to you I have read the story from where Tales of Gallant Jiraya was inspired and also the thread you made foreshadowing the development as well. Both of them were great work. If Kishi is really following the same pattern then it is obvious that you are right on this point.

But I still have some doubts :-

• We have seen Jiraya flee from the battlefield in order to buy time so that he can enter sage mode but we haven't seen that when Tsunade started using Byakugou.
  [*]For Kabuto's DSM we have snake gathering Natural energy for him but we haven't seen that as well for Tsunade as well.

Those were some of the doubts I had and now we I looked a little in detail I also found some similarities as well so its confusing me now.

Well the difference and in the same time, similarity, is that Tsunade gathers chakra in her Yin seal pretty much like Naruto/Jiraiya gathered it. The method of gathering is different.
Tsunade's a big ambiguous though...

I didn't read yet but I want to say something i think There is slug sage mode but tsunade didn't want to become one because unlike jiraya and orochimaru tsunade didn't want to become stronger remember before meeting naruto she didn't even want to use medical ninjutsu Why would she learn sage mode ?

And after she become hokage there isn't time for learning because she is busy for being hokage



tsunade knew about sage mode (not a lot of people know about it)

See sakura and shikamaru are both intelligent but they didn't know about it .Which means not many people knew about it .

This makes a lot of sense, seeing as how she went from ninja to gambler after dan & her brother's death, which may explain her lack of skills in some fields, since she probably stopped training too.

But if this is her way of bypassing Sage Mode, it all fits the patterns with the Sannins and their Sage Mode/bypassing the technique, as Orochimaru did with the cursed seal. Now we can all consider the pattern with Toad,Snake and Slug magic has been fulfilled -> the original inspirational work of art from where Kishi took them.

Thanks! Indeed, hats off for him! I was always missing this particular case and made me yell that the pattern is incomplete and it was way out of Kishi's writing style and I was about to think he broke his rules, however, after this theory, I am sure he didn't. This fits perfectly!

Yes but Sage Mode isn't just about strength. If Jiraiya had Frog Kata in Sage Mode to compete with her natural strength, it doesn't mean that all Sage modes would have to include this criteria. Snake Sage Mode wasn't about that. It was specialized on other fields. Each Sage Mode has unique particularities.
That's the difference.
