The Juubi in its tree form has no tails at all, only roots. Then why is he called the Juubi?
If the sage sealed it as a tree and remove its chakra, it changed from God Tree to Gedo mazo and Gedo Mazo do not have tails. I believe that the Juubi might be a tree but when he wants to attack and move, he takes the 2 previous forms. The tree form is not mobile according to what I can deduct in today's chapter. So when Madara said that Juubi wanted to take its chakra, I think that Juubi switched from a tree or Giant pillar to a moving humanoid creature and changed from a tree to one of its strange forms where it got its tails.
